SECOND TIDE

Second Tide is a joyful reinvention of a classic colonial home overlooking Rockport’s Old Garden Beach. Created for a couple ready to begin their next chapter with clarity and ease, the project is a reflection of our core belief: that good architecture should make you happy.

The original home had character and history, but its layout and systems no longer supported the life our clients envisioned—one centered on the coast, their community, and making room for visiting family. Through a full renovation, we shaped a home that feels generous, light-filled, and intentionally personal.

The reimagined layout includes a tranquil new primary suite with a private deck and ocean views, and three bedrooms for adult children to return home with ease. A glass-enclosed porch was transformed into a spirited bar area for hosting, while a two-car attached garage with bonus space above brings both utility and future flexibility.

We softened an awkward rear addition by sculpting a graceful, swooped roofline that now feels like it belongs. Part of the wraparound porch was enclosed to create a welcoming mudroom, and a rear deck was expanded to better capture water views and moments of outdoor living. All systems were upgraded for year-round comfort, including new windows, insulation, and central air conditioning.

Through thoughtful collaboration with the builder, we aligned budget, design, and finishes without compromise—ensuring every decision supported both joy and practicality.
